Samantha Wright Memorial Pool

Sam was born in Waterville on June 9, 1975, the daughter of Samuel and Nancy (Torrey) Wright.  Known as Sam to her many friends and family, she attended the Clinton school system and graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, with the class of 1993.

Sam then attended and graduated from the Audubon Expedition Institute, then attended Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., where she graduated with a master's degree in Elementary Education.  After completing her education, Sam was employed by L.L. Bean, Patagonia, Sugarloaf Mountain Corporation and the Carrabassett Recreation Department where she served as the director of their summer aquatic program.  In 2008 she fulfilled her goal and dream in life by establishing the Maine Mountain Children's House - a Montessori preschool located in Kingfield.

In 2009 Sam was married to Andrew Hodgins in a ceremony held in Barbados which was accompanied by their friends and family and a few years later along came their daughter Penny.

Sam loved the outdoors and was a registered Maine guide.  She enjoyed gardening, mountain biking, motor cross and street bikes, surfing and swimming.  Her most favorite outdoor activity was hiking and her favorite hiking was on Mt. Rainier and in Hawaii.  She was also an avid cross country skier and loved snowshoeing in the Carrabassett Valley area with her friends and her dog Havana.
