OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMP
Carrabassett Valley Recreation Department & Sugarloaf

  Ages 4-13 years

July 11-August 19, 2011: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-3:30 PM

Camp activities may include: swimming, tennis, golf, wall climbing, archery, and fly fishing instruction; cooperative and competitive field and ball games; arts and crafts; hiking and mountain biking; dramatics; "top secret" rain day plans; weekly themes covering environmental awareness, ecology, local heritage, nature, and weather. We hope to familiarize the children with all that makes our corner of the world so special, share lots of fun and laughter, build their self-confidence, and empower them to better "Live in the outside". This camp made available through the cooperative efforts of Sugarloaf and the Town of Carrabassett Valley's Recreation Department .

Fees

Guest retail: Ages 4-13: $40 per day, $115 for 3-days, $175 for 5-days

Year-round area residents or Carrabassett Valley taxpayers: Please call for rate schedule.

Weekly Overnight Trips

Weekly overnight trips will be available for ages 8 and up as part of a full week program. The cost is $40 per child, which includes supervision, all fees, and three meals. Space is limited for some destinations.

PeakBaggers
Sugarloaf is surrounded by several 4000-foot peaks. Campers 8 years old and up have the option to take on the challenge to climb a different peak each week. In recognition of this accomplishment, campers are given a descriptive tag identifying the peak that they climbed, and a special "peak bag" to keep them in. Naturally, the campers who "bag all the peaks" feel a tremendous amount of pride in their accomplishment!

Camper Daily Needs

Bathing suit, towel, appropriate clothing for the weather and planned activities, sneakers or closed toe shoes, lunch, snacks, and plenty of fluids (no glass containers). Labeling of your child's belongings is appreciated. Please apply sunscreen and bug repellent to your child at the beginning of each camp day, and communicate any special instructions to your child's counselors.

Reservations

Reservations are required to ensure that staffing levels will enable us to provide the high quality of programming that we strive for. Payment is due on the first day of camp attendance in each week. For refund or credit, cancellations must be made prior to the day being canceled.

Child Care

Children ages 10 weeks to four years are welcome to join the State of Maine Licensed program at Western Maine Center for Children on a space available basis; for more information and to make reservations (as far in advance as you accurately can), call 207-237-3223. $45-$55 per day, 8:30 AM-4 PM. The center is located at the Carrabassett Valley Public Library & Community Center.
