Maine Huts & Trails 207.265.2400 For the 2007/2008 season, we are very excited to celebrate the initial public opening of our trail system, with the first 36 miles of trail, beginning in the Carrabassett Valley region, extending up to The Forks, through some of Maine's most scenic backcountry. We also expect to have three huts available by summer 2008, and these will become available as the construction is completed during the coming months. Our first hut, located at Poplar Stream, just above the Poplar Stream Falls, is only a short 2.5 miles with a modest uphill climb, from the Carrabassett Valley trail head and will be ready for guests by February 2008. This hut offers an ideal destination for Friday night arrival into the area. The Poplar Stream Falls hut will be open year-round, and will also provide a day-trip destination for visitors seeking a single day non-motorized backcountry experience. link to Maine Huts & Trails website
